At the parade of troops of the Minsk garrison on July 3, 2019 to mark the Independence Day and the 75th anniversary of the liberation of the Republic of Belarus from the Nazi invaders, a number of newly-designed products of defense industry was presented - various options for deploying weapons and special equipment on lightly armored vehicles, designed and manufactured by organizations of the State Authority for Military Industry and the defense sector of the economy, as well as modernized armored vehicles and air defense systems, the combat weapons of which are mounted on domestic wheelbase.
Among the new products is the new medium-range Buk-MB3K anti-aircraft missile system (SAM), which in its reconnaissance, fire and maneuverability is not inferior to modern analogous medium-range air defense systems, and in terms of price / combat properties it is very attractive for a number of countries that are not manufacturers of arms of this class.
The main features of the new air defense system are high reliability and improved performance.
The Buk-MB3K air defense system is capable of detecting and destroying all types of aerodynamic targets, from unmanned aerial vehicles to winged missiles and tactical ballistic targets.
At the same time, the complex is capable of acting equally effectively in conditions of active fire and electronic countermeasures.
The Buk-MBZK air defense system has implemented a number of new technical solutions that put the developed system on a par with the most modern medium-range air defense systems that meet the trends in the development of weapons of warfare in airspace.
A thermal imaging-optical system is installed on the self-propelled firing system, which provides automatic tracking of targets without the participation of the radar at any time of day. The use of special methods and signal processing algorithms allowed to improve by 1.5-2 times the accuracy of determining the coordinates of targets and recognition of their class from an acoustic portrait.
For all military equipment, new automated workstations with LCD monitors and digital displays have been developed, which made the combat operation of the calculations much more convenient, and also made it possible to organize their training and objective control of work.
The system’s equipment includes modern digital communication and data transmission systems that ensure reliable communication between air defense system elements and its interfacing with an automated control system and radar. Elements of the system are equipped with a digital navigation system of the company’s own development, which provides the positioning of military equipment using data from GPS, GLONASS systems, as well as in stand-alone operation.
The new 9M318MB anti-aircraft guided missile was developed, with an active homing head with range of 70 km.
For combat assets of the Buk-MBZ SAM, the four-axle all-wheel drive chassis MZKT-692250 with an 8x8 wheel arrangement, steered wheels of two front axles, with increased payload and a more powerful 500 horsepower engine were specially developed. This allows the firepower of the system to make marches with range of up to 1000 km.
The new Buk-MBZK air defense system is able to integrate into any air defense system that solves the problem of highly effective protection of troops, military, administrative and industrial and especially important (strategic) objects against strikes by manned, unmanned aerial attack equipment, and precision-guided weapons, first of all against winged missiles operating at extremely low altitudes.
For the first time, the modernized 9A33-2B combat vehicle from the Osa air defense system was presented at the parade, with firepower located on the MAZ-6317 wheelbase manufactured by MAZ.
In the course of improving the Osa air defense system, modernization was carried out of the stations for detecting targets, tracking targets, sighting missiles, and transmitting commands.
In addition, the commander’s automated workstation and simulator equipment were introduced into the combat vehicle.
Taking into account all modern trends in the improved combat vehicle, the noise immunity of electronic systems was improved, the combat capabilities of target tracking station and missile sighting were increased, which made it possible to more efficiently detect, track and destroy small targets, including unmanned aerial vehicles. Improvements affected about 70% of the standard electronic equipment of a combat vehicle.
The modernization of the main systems of the Osa air defense system allowed not only to increase the efficiency of its use, but also to increase reliability and its service life, reduce operating costs, and significantly improve conditions and efficiency of operators.
The concept of building a model range of lightly armored vehicles is based on the principles of modularity and unification of the design.
At the military parade, lightly armored vehicles manufactured by the MZKT (MZKT-490100) were presented with complete sets, including products with electronic warfare module, with reconnaissance-fire and remote-controlled module. Moreover, the last two samples are the specialties of the parade (the BRDM-4B multifunctional reconnaissance system and the Rubon lightly armored vehicle with the integrated remote combat module DBM-T12.7). The DBM-T12.7 module provides: terrain panoramic view regardless of the time of day, detection, recognition and automatic tracking of targets; independent control of the sighting line of sight during observation; defeat of escorted unmanned aerial vehicles, firing, transporting vehicles and manpower of the enemy both from the spot and on the move.
The lightly armored Rubon car is equipped with places for the installation of an ammunition kit, a diesel generator for autonomous power supply of the module, workplaces of the gunner, driver and 2 crew members.
The main feature of the BRDM-4B multifunctional reconnaissance system is that a high level of informational content of the reconnaissance assets incorporated in the BRDM-4B ensures the prompt receipt of reliable information about enemy in the shortest possible time with minimal forces and the transmission of generalized information at distance of up to 300 km.
In the ceremonial calculation of the mechanized column, another novelty was presented - the protected multipurpose vehicle “Protector”, which is designed to transport personnel of special purpose units when performing official missions, can be used as a mobile protected control point for special forces groups, a mobile protected fire point.
The machine provides movement both on public roads and cross-country through the use of off-road chassis, as well as a high degree of protection for the crew and transported personnel from small arms, 7.62x54 caliber armor-piercing incendiary bullets, and from the effects of a shock wave in case of explosion, due to the use of explosion-proof seats and the body structure (V-shaped bottom).
In addition, the reinforced design of the Protector’s front bumper provides the ability to displace obstacles (gates, fences), the air conditioning and heating system maintains comfortable conditions inside the vehicle at temperatures from - 400 to + 500.
The protected vehicle is provided with navigation system, communication facilities and can carry up to 16 troops, including 14 in an armored module, access to which is via a ramp. Gross weight reaches 19 800 kg.
The basic chassis is the all-wheel drive three-axle vehicle MAZ-631708, which provides the power reserve at speed of 60 km / h - at least 1000 km.
Another specialty of the parade is the profound modernization of the T-72 tank to the level of T-72BME.
Improvement of the machine was carried out in accordance with the requirements for the means of armed confrontation in the XXI century. During the modernization, the latest achievements in the field of creating fire control systems, surveillance and protection against modern means of destruction were used.
The T-72BME received an updated fire control system that ensures the use of all types of modern tank shells, including guided, as well as enhanced armor protection due to the effective combination of monolithic and combined armor protection with the additional installation of dynamic protection and anti-cumulative screens.
The installation of the multi-channel sight “Essa-72U” (OJSC “Peleng”), which has television and thermal imaging channels, allowed to increase the firing range at day from 4 to 5 km, at night from 1.2 to 3.5 km.
The installation of a set of meteorological, temperature, charge sensors, roll, pitch and powerful ballistic computer allowed to increase the speed and accuracy of fire.
Due to the installation of a more modern tank diesel V-84 MS with capacity of 840 hp increased mobility of T-72BME. The presence of an auxiliary diesel generator set with capacity of 9.9 kW (ensures the operation of all tank systems without starting the main engine) allows for autonomy in ambush and defensive operations, and also significantly reduces the thermal visibility of the tank.
Modernization provides the increase in the basic characteristics of the tank to the level of modern tanks of the T-72B3 and T-90 type and the extension of its life cycle by at least 20-25 years.
